Technical Director

We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Technical Director to join a highly motivated team. 

As part of the job, you will be responsible for the entire programming department, taking responsibility for developing the skill set of the programming team to suit artistic and game design goals.

Role and Responsibilities

As Technical Director at Stormind Games, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Manage the programming process and identify the programming tasks.
  • Supervise and participate in all projects from staffing, technology/tools choices, risks evaluation, dependencies with other projects to ensure the best quality is achieved.
  • Take decisions and enforce best practices for coding and naming conventions.
  • Organize code review sessions.
  • Manage and monitor software architecture decisions in order to build an efficient, maintainable and extensible code base.
  • Organize the work of the team, create and assign tasks.
  • Create documentation and encourage the team to do the same.
  • Plan and evaluate the work performed by the team.
  • Work closely with department leads to identify and set technical restrictions and ensure the team adheres to them.

Requirements and qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience, in the games industry and preferably 2 years or more in a similar role.
  • Minimum 2 full project cycles of experience managing at a Technical Director capacity.
  • Technical and product judgment required to improve product quality as well as technical productivity.
  • Ability to identify risks early and often and suggest mitigation strategies that are thought through and consider multiple paths to a solution.

Senior Game Designer

We are on the lookout for an experienced Game Designer to join a highly motivated team. 

As part of the job, you will have to communicate effectively with multi-discipline teams across the studio within the project's technical and scope restrictions.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Game Designer at Stormind Games, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Collaborate with the Lead Designer and the Design Team to bring innovative ideas to all aspects of game design
  • Take ownership of Game features and their implementation
  • Conceptualize, design, script, direct and create game levels
  • Actively participate and/or lead design-specific discussions regarding design reviews and design issues

QA Engineer

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join a highly motivated team. 

As part of the job, you will be responsible for the ongoing development of automated software testing infrastructures and assuring the correct operation of our build pipeline. 

Main duties will also include testing pre-release software on various platforms to ensure that game content matches our quality standards.

Ideal candidates will be logical and methodical with the ability to work under pressure to strict guidelines. So if you have a keen eye for detail, want to be involved in the final quality check and are enthusiastic about gaming, then this is the role for you.

Role and Responsibilities

As a QA Engineer at Stormind Games, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Be involved in developing frameworks, tests, and tools to automate and help accelerate all aspects of product development, pipelines, tooling, and service monitoring
  • You will have the opportunity to define our testing practices and have the potential to take on leadership responsibilities in future
  • Implement tests and guide others in the development of tests by providing them with the right tools, frameworks, and infrastructure
  • Be proactive and have a strong focus on quality and risk throughout the delivery cycle, identifying and implementing automation approaches as required
  • Have a good understanding of a variety of test approaches 
  • Drive various initiatives, foster a positive and practical work ethic, and elicit buy-in from the wider team
  • Liaise with the product owner(s), technical leads, developers, and design teams to ensure the testing of new features runs smoothly
  • Drive synergy between QA, design, and gameplay teams
  • Provide feedback in key areas to the developers to ensure the best possible quality is maintained
  • Conduct, oversee and evaluate studio-wide playtests on regular basis under the guidance of our QA Manager

Requirements and qualifications

  • Commercial experience with Unreal Engine 4 (or a similar AAA Game engine)
  • Awareness of software engineering best practices
  • Strong technical skills with a high level of C++ and at least one high-level language e.g. C#/Python
  • Good understanding of tools automation testing
  • Experience with source control (e.g., GIT, Perforce)
  • Experience in developing Test Plans, Test Scripts/Blueprints, Defining Test Data and Reports

UI Programmer

As a UI Programmer at Stormind Games, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Work closely with art and design leads to ensure that UI meets aesthetic and functional requirements for a positive and cohesive UX
  • Attending to every detail, especially with regard to compliance, layout, and design
  • Architecting, planning, and implementing new UI systems

  • Work with all aspects of the animation export and implementation pipeline (for Maya and UE).

  • Support the Animation and character teams in debugging tools or game-related issues.

VFX Artist

Role and Responsibilities

As a VFX Artist at Stormind Games, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Envisioning and creating real-time visual effects that enhance gameplay and player immersion
  • Collaborating with artists, designers, and engineers to deliver visually impressive spells and abilities
  • Adding life and color to the game world through atmospherics, weather, and environmental effects
  • Technical implementation, integration, troubleshooting, and tracking of the performance of visual effects in Unreal Engine
  • Iterating on VFX assets based on feedback from the dev team

Requirements and qualifications

  • Knowledge of the PBS and experience to work with the Unreal shader graph and mastery of material domain and blend mode
  • Knowledge of Niagara and ability to create custom scratch pads to fit all the requests
  • Knowledge of blueprints and render target and know-how of where to use it
  • Ability to create sprite sheets, vertex animation textures, vector fields, and flow maps in Houdini and/or Maya

Preferred skills

The following skills and experiences will be considered a plus:

  • Experience in creating Houdini Volume Textures and Niagara data interfaces
